Hey guys, I've been looking for some milspec 5.56 ammo for a while. In the mean time, i have been buying winchester white box stuff. I bought some federal american eagle bulk stuff (55 gr.)

I was looking at the bottom of the cartridge and it doesn't say .223 rem like it does on other 223 stuff. says LC 05. I am thinking this is Lake city stuff made in 05. Maybe i lucked out and got some Milspec m193 that is churned out of lake city. What do you guys think?

cool, so its just the same cases. poo.

Where can i find milspec ammo in this godforsaken country?

cuz you know, i need the extra stopping power of milspec to punch holes in paper because i can't use my black evil AR anywhere except the range. it's time for us enthusiasts to unite so we will be heard

What do you mean by milspec? Same velocity? All the cheap 55gFMJ .223 like UMC/AE/WIN white box is close enough and cheap as it gets. There is some SA ball out there but it's more expensive and no better. I don;t know of any bulk SS109 around.

Do you guys know if the cheap 55 grain fmj stuff from win and ae fragments like m193 and m855 does?

55g use the same bullets, FMJ with lead core. They frag at the higher velocity......break in two at the cannalure. The SS109 bullet reacts the same, only difference being it has a 7g steel penetrator tip.

Tell you what. If someone actually wants to take the time to cast the jell blocks, and snap pictures of the results, I'll save 100 SS-109 bullets from my next order for you.

Only hitch is I want the pictures posted here on CGN

I read an article somewhere, that Federal won the contract to operate the Lake City Ammo plant.
Thats about as likely to happen as Lada  making Toyotas

Alliant Technologies is a subsidiary of Federal Cartridge Company, which actually runs the day to day operations at Lake City.
I knew I read it somewhere, that's why the LC appeared on the Federal ammo in question.

ATK has run LCAAP for several years now. After Winchester lost the contract. However, ATK has not kept up to capacity and the military has let new contracts to Winchester and General Dynamics (who sub some of it to SNC in Valcartier & IMI) who now own Santa Barbara in Spain.

Jezz, I hope it's better than the CBC 7.62 they surplused
