just a quick question ive got a bone stock milspec 5r 308 has bedding the action made much of a difference to other owners wondering if i should do it

I had one and it shot awesome bone stock..I had it bedded and added a Timney trigger and it shot even more awesome..I sold it to fund another build and have regreted it big time..I'm sure yours is shooting unreal with handloads..so to answer your question mine did shoot better bedded but not a lot..I was shooting clover leafs at 100 stock..

I bedded a 5r two weeks ago and was there for testing, but we were also testing a new bullet. The groups were tighter, and at least 75% of the flyers were gone.

Bed it. :)

If your planning on upgrading the stock somewhere down the road you will get more for the stock if it is not bedded. If you really like the stock and have no plans to change it then bed it for sure.

Still shoots awesome. Just kidding.

Bedding will make the biggest difference if you don't have your action screws torqued the same and enough. In which case a properly bedded stock will show a huge improvement.

The cheapest solution. Buy a Firearm Torque wrench. I think my 5R is set to 50. 65 is often said for them. Either way making sure both screws are the same tightness seems to make the biggest difference.

As the HS stock has the aluminum bedding block, this is a cheap and easy way to get good results.

If you're going all out then a proper bedding job might improve it. Personally my 5R shoots very well stock.
