Milspec or Commercial, for Magpul CTR/MOE stock

I agree with mrsmitty.
It can have either a 'Commercial' Buffer Tube which is 1.168" in Diameter. In which case you will need a 'Commercial' Magpul CTR / MOE stock.
Or.
It can have a 'Mil-Spec' Buffer Tube which is 1.148" in Diameter. In that case you will need the 'Mil-Spec' Magpul CTR / MOE stock.

I posted a diagram in another thread that may be usefull ..

Taking the tube out is easy. First, unscrew the buffer retaining ring. That is the ring with the four square notches close to the reciever that is screwed to the outside of the buffer tube. A special wrench helps... Once the ring is loosened, you just unscrew the buffer tube from the receiver. The trick is not damaging the metal finish.... Proper tools help but it can be done with regular tools and some care!

Why would you need to take the tube off your firearm if your only replacing the stock?
Only take it off if you are switching from one tube to another.
Watch out for the take down detent and spring that are behind the plate under the buffer retaining ring.
