I like the idea of the 350 whelen type bolt action rifle for moose hunting-is there a milsurp comparable-shamelessly looking for a bubba'd rifle to hunt moose with[I absolutely love my 65x55 swede for deer]

Try an 8x57. 323 is pretty close to 358, when push comes to shove. Or the 8x63 the scandihoovians used for thier machine gun crews (same ammo in rifles and machine guns, basically an 8mm-06). The 8mm-06 is also a good choice (the AI version is even better), and easy to do on a surplus bubba 8x57. FWIW - dan

What milsurps were chambered in 8x57?

"...chambered in 8x57..." K98 Mausers, et al. Your 6.5 x 55 will take moose with no trouble using the right bullet.
