Many rare and expensive milsurps are just garbage. That's why very few of the rare ones were made. The best variants were adopted, produced in the millions, and aren;t nearly as valuable as a result.

And the "plain jane" 91/30 you have is a mixmaster refurb that's been renumbered to match, while these ones are factory fresh originals. Even without folding bayo, these would be $800+ rifles to collectors for that reason.

I like the rifle... but at almost 900 ???
not long ago I seen the 1949 sks going for the same price... I think the same place has them down to 450!!

As for '49 SKS, $450 gets you a BBQ painted mostly non original gun. $650 gets you a a nice blued mostly correct parts, over $1K easy for an unmolested example.
Quality is everything. Except to those who believe Coors Light is beer.

All I can say is Tradex sold all of them at that price in under 24 hours. I humbly suggest you may not be the type of person these are being marketed to.

All I can say is awesome! How lucky is it that Canadians had the chance to own these is beyond belief!
Can't wait to see the reviews and detailed photos!

Apparently "garbage", "ugly", "crude", "finicky", "unreliable", "worse then mauser/sks/gluegun" and "I can get same rifle in CanTire for $199" don't affect collectibility at all.

I almost bought one of these there was 24 left when I looked
But I have my eyes set on a m1 carbine so that is taking priority
The mosin is a good rifle, yeah these may just be a normal mosin with a folding bayonet but they are rare and are more for the collectors who will appreciate them

While I can't speak for the batch TradeEx imported, I was able to hand select from a crate of rifles in Europe and all of them had been reblued and had the stocks refinished (but NOT sanded). Hardly factory fresh but 25% of them were original matching while the others were force matched.

What exactly makes the side folder bayo rare? Yeah the original mosins were hammered on bayos. Then when they realized the length of the rifle was to long and went the m44 it had the said rare bayo. I'm sure a few of the bayo from the "new m44" made it over to the older mosins.

If your a hard core collector and have more money than you need have at it. But I think the newer licensed guys are driving up prices on $150 rifles and ammo!

You do realize the M44 bayonet is permanently attached? These are part of a trials run of 20,000 made at the end of 1943, and use a different bayonet. There were these, what became the M44 and an intermediate length model, and the carbine length was chosen.

Wow, can't believe that many of these turned up. At $900 not my cup of tea, but I totally get it.

Just about pulled the trigger but I built an idf m14 and it hasn't been paid for yet I mean it's not finished at the m14 doc and I don't own this ammo but I still wanted one I kinda feel regret today.

Didn't see it was a detachable side folder... but still a $150 rifle with $600 bayo.
