milsurp bolt action in 308

"...L1a1?..." Geezuz, John, those are evil incarnate up here.
The only mag fed(they're nearly all fed with stripper clips) rifle you'll find, maybe, is a converted Lee-Enfield. The mags, proper 7.62 mags, are not easy to find and expensive when you do. There are a fair number of Israeli 7.62NATO K98's around though.

Ishapore Enfield 2A or 2A1. These are the old SMLE design, No1MkIII, so it has the ten round detachable magazine with a charger bridge on the action so it can be clip fed. It is not a conversion, it is manufactured in 7.62x51mmNATO. The 2A1 has the sight re-calibrated to match the .308 ballistics, the earlier 2A has the sight still calibrated for the original .303British. I don't see a lot of them but I don't see any asking for very high prices. They may look beat up but if not neglected and worn out can be expected to shoot as well as most SMLEs. There are no-gunsmithing scope mounts from several sources and ATI and Ram-line offer synthetic sporter stocks that don't require any modification to the rifle, so you can convert one to a cheap and reasonable hunting rifle without permanent bubbafication and back it to it's original milsurp condition as required.

What is the price range for the 2A1. I do like the looks of the full wood rifles. Where can they be found for sale.

They aren't nearly as plentiful in Canada as they are in the U.S., so don't hold your breath.

You can put up a WTB add in the EE here, or surf the websites of gun dealers around Canada for the odd one to show up. Elwood Epps, P&S Militaria, and TradeEx all come to mind to start... Google is your Friend.

You will find an Israeli Mauser much sooner though, a few have been popping up in the EE here over the past few months. Most go for $300-$400 depending on condition. I've shot one before, very accurate and solid.
