when useing these guns with off the shelf ammo do they need more cleaning or the same ammount of cleaning and is there any special oil needed for them or just regular gun oil ....im thinking i want to get a old school millatary rifle like a sks (non restrected right) and are there any extra things people need to take in consideration when useing/buying rifles along the sks type?

Modern commercial ammunition can be used. If you buy surplus ammunition, however, it is very important to know what kind of ammunition you are getting, because some ammunition is non-corrosive, but some ammunition is corrosive.

Corrosive primers found in some surplus ammunition requires extremely thorough cleaning of the bore, gas system, and interior of the firearm - with cleaning agents' appropriate for corrosive ammunition - and within hours, to avert rust.

Shoot corrosive ammunition, and fail to clean properly, and you'll have rust in no time.

SKS is an Russian acronym that translates to self-loading carbine, Simonov's system.

A funnel and a kettle of boiling hot water after shooting will take care of corrosive primed ammo. clean as usual afterwards. Keep in mind that while the bore of the SKS is chrome plated, the GAS cylinder is NOT.

While there is non-corrosive primed 7.62x39, milsurp is not.
