Milsurp values?

I had a M96 Swede at the last gun show for $550 (negotiable).

No takers.

My guesses, based on EE prices (as others have said, gun shows can be all over the map):

Swiss K31 $800-1000$

SMLE # 1 Mk III $700-900

LE # 4 Mk I $800-1200 (particularly for a Canadian made Longbranch)

RC K98 $700-1000

Genuine German K98 900-1500$

M96 Swede Mauser $450-500 (I have one I was planning to list on the EE soon - message me if you want details)

M38 Swede Mauser $550-$650

US Model of 1917 $800-1100

I cannot understand why best Mauser quality (Swede) remain so cheap.

Swedish Mausers are cheaper because they started at lower prices, and they are more numerous. Secondly, they are not Model 98s with the advanced design features M98s incorporate.

Swedish Mausers are beautifully made, and you can find rifles in immaculate condition. Because of the lower prices, there is potential for collecting at reasonable expenditure.

It doesn't even have to do with the model for Swedish Mausers or even the quality, its simply supply and demand.

There is a large supply of them in country, and the demand is there but the demand has never increased. The only thing I could see increasing the demand is if a large stock of 6.5x55 Swede came available for cheap. Otherwise they are likely going to stay where they are at with maybe moderate increases over time.

First gun I ever bought was an M96 for $69, I couldn't afford the M38 for $79.

THE SWEDE RIFLES, I have a small collection approx 10 remaining and I will use prices in line (approximately) with what suggested here.
Don't have time now to sell on here, but will have them on table at Kamloops show. Condition is everything and these are the best of the best.

South American Mauser are expensive even in weird calibers.

South American Mauser are expensive even in weird calibers.

Only the mint, unfired, in the grease with test target, matching bayonet, and sling. Otherwise they are average price. A Chilean M1912 is usually 300-500$ for example, but a mint Brazilian M1908 as described is at least 1500$+. There also isn't as many South American Mausers in country vs the Swedish Mausers. Therefore supply is less then demand.
