Milsurps at auction

The Sturgess collection is beyond believe and what Julia has for auction is only a very small spare part of it. I've seen the collection in its entirety and the only way to describe it, which I did to Geoff Sturgess when I first saw the collection was "what do you say to a naked lady?" I walked into the collection vault with Geoff and being rendered speechless is an understatement. You also could not meet a nicer guy. One fine gentleman.
When I find my pictures of the collection I will post some selected pictures.
If you have the three volume set of Pistol Parabellum you can see most of Geoff's 900 plus lugers and Geoff did all his own photography. The 3 volume Parabellum set is on sale right now for $225.00 at Collectors Grade and worth every penny.

That cannot be described in words. You can't even dream that mix!! You read, and now you see.

My chances on affording most of that stuff in a live auction frenzy is very low. These collectors who pit it to get her were probably pretty wealthy.

My son also viewed his collection when he was visiting Geoff about some cartridges. Took a series of photos for me.

I'm willing to give up everything I own to get my hands on that K98 sniper ...

If you have been following the James Julia Auctions in the past, some K98's and K98 Snipers are totally humped and faked put together rifles, and from big collections.
It's Always Buyer Beware as not all that glitters is gold...
And the funny thing is people with deep pockets and lack of brains sometimes buy fakes. Can you imagine when they eventually find out that it's not real.

I wonder why these gentlemen don't set up a gallery or exhibit with their collections after they pass on. I mean, they are obviously well-to-do, and I don't think they collect these rifles for monetary gain (otherwise they'd have sold them before death). You spend a lifetimes worth gathering this exquisite display of history, only to have it broken apart and sold to the highest bidder, to be locked away in another collection for 50 years until another auction comes up.

Doubt that there are any fakes in Geoff's collection.
Don't know what will happen to all the machineguns - they aren't going to make into the US for sale.

Warren,
Where is this collection located? By the way, your private messages have exceeded the limit and no one can PM you anymore. You need to dump some of the old stuff.

I know most genuine K98 sniper almost never show up on public auctions anymore, they're usually sold through a phone call. But what can I do, I have the Mauser disease, I cannot help but to drool.

Overflow with the PM's now taken care of...

Collection is not in North America. I was in the UK but he moved it to Switzerland a few years ago. I was just talking to him a few days ago and he is selling because there is "nothing left of interest". To only be in that position.................
The arms are going but the rest of the collection of "other stuff" is staying put for now.
