Two more M1 carbines, an Inland M1A1 and Quality Hardware Manufacturing Company.

The Inland has a very low serial number, so the gun was originally not an M1A1, it seems to have been arsenal rebuilt, it's in a nice enough shape but not all parts are original for a first or second lot. The barrel really puzzles me as the only visible marking I found is an Ordonance flaming bomb, no manufacturers marking! Quite a mystery!!!

The Quality HMC on the other hand seems to be a cool cookie. I spent severl hours, checking it with Bruce Canfield's book and different websites and it seems to be an all correct parts, unaltered, original production one, pretty hard to come by in my neck of the woods!

From the original post (#1)

3rd picture from the bottom, 3rd rifle from the left.

What is that monstrosity!?

It looks like it has a schmidt rubin cocking action on it but it's far too assault rifle looking!

It's beautiful and I want it lol (I'm just assuming that it's prohib of course :()

I think its a Stgw. 57 / Sig 510 assault rifle

I didn't know Luxemburg had such good gun laws, that or you're related to the Grand Duke :p I think the neat thing about your collection is that much of it was used and left over there.

Couple things I found neat about your collection:

- you have a Thompson. No point here, I just wish I could have one too.
- looks like you have a Chassepot that was turned into a hunting rifle?? Very neat
- Your Quality Hardware sure does look untouched all original. I would say the chances of that are much better in Europe than over here in North America.

Kudos to you for liking and keeping so much history so close. I only wish we could have as much choice and variety that you do. *cough* AK47 *cough*

Excuse me....;)

Simply fabulous. Btw are you single?
Nope, married with three kids. Please keep in mimd that all this stuff is much much cheaper over here then in Canada or the US.

I'm in no way related to the Grand-Duke:) We have quite liberal gun laws!

There are many Chassepot hunting rifles to be found in central europe.

Actually it is very very difficult to come across matching parts, untouched US small arms on our side of the pond, my best guess would be that, when cleaning the guns and doing maintenance, none of the GI's really cared if they put on the parts belonging to their oown gun or those belonging to their buddy's gun. Many weapons also went through the divisional armouries and the arsenals in the rear area for refurbishment. So nearly all of the battlefield leftovers are mixmasters!

I am (almost but not quite) beyond words.

First, thanks for showing us this incredible collection.

Second, could you possibly give us some photos of the UD stripped down?

In Canada (which we are told is a free country) most of these were restricted in some fashion before they were even invented...... and there is no national reference collection where serious students can do any "hands on" analysis or investigation.

Again, thanks.
