There seems to be lots of "milsurp-lovin' Manitobans" on this forum.

Do milsurp-owning Manitobans support the idea of an FB page for us??

I'd be happy to start one if there isn't one already !!

Also, I read somewhere there is an annual "military" shoot in Manitoba. Anyone have any info on this? I'd love to go with my Mosin-Nagant and my SVT !!

There generally are events at the Fort la Bosse club near Virden (in Wolverine's back yard, tons of ammo only 100 yards away and 300 yards downrange) in which military-type rifles are welcome to compete.

As well, we are hoping to be able to put on another "meet and greet" shoot for CGN and internet friends, likely the beginning of Summer, just like last year. Last year we had more than 40 military rifles on the line for anyone to try out. This year there will be several new types which were not there last year because of ammunition shortages. Still have a few hundred balloons for targets, too. Could be fun. Once things are ironed out, it will be announced here. That's IF Summer actually comes this year!

I got to shoot some amazing guns that you won't find every day- I'll have my antiques at the next shoot.

Dang. Might have to actually join Facebook finally...

I know how you feel. I held out until just before Christmas this year. My gunner nephew more or less implied that he wasn't going to speak to me any more unless I got my old butt on to space book.

So.... I lowered myself into the quagmire and joined bookface. One thing I learned early on is that everybody and his dog wants to be your "friend". Jeez, I don't even know who these people are!

On the topic of a "meet and greet" at Wolverine this summer, I am all for it. It was so good of you Manitoba nuts to allow a couple of half-starved grubby old Saskatchewan boys on to the property last year. I actually managed to buffalo smellie with my SAT M91. I guess I'll have to come up with another rabbit out of the hat this year!

The idea of a gathering is great. Unless there is a big earthquake, we'll be there this year.

I'd love to make it out to Virden too, but I've got a baby on the way right about that time of year. Dunno how the old lady will feel about me being 2 hours out of town....
I hate the idea of everybody and their dog knowing what I'm up to an awful lot for a 32 year old...but maybe we'll give this 'bookface' a shot finally. Trouble is I waste enough time on here already...

Congrats on the noob! I was in the same predicament last year, didn't make it to the shoot, but I knew there would be more; I'll only be there to see my little guy born once.

I signed up for both CGN Manitoba and Manitoba milsurp One is a group and the other is an entity. I would love to start attending more of these events this year. Is the Shoot near Virden kid friendly? Its hard for the wife to object when its father and son time

I hope this will be in my hands before the meet and greet this summer as I'm sure im not the only one who would like to give it a try.;) :50cal:

Hi Janice !!

When you say antiques do you mean black powder?

I have a replica 1728 Saint-Étienne black powder flintlock musket I've been using for the last 10 years... does that qualify as an antique milsurp ?? LOL

I also have a '34 Mosin-Nagant and a '43 SVT-40 that I would LOVE to shoot at a milsurp event !!

Where can I find more info on the Fort la Bosse event... I can post this on Manitoba Milsurps !!

The exact day, time etc won't be set in stone until the range figures out their schedule for 2014. Then we'll (that's the general WE, not me) figure out a suitable day to book the range.

This year we plan to bring a large dining tent so that we can stay out of the heat.

As for antiques I think there will be lots. I'll be bringing several.
