Milsurps popular at Calgary show

Could be wrong, but I think it was 4500. Wolverine's booth, as well. Didn't see the Thompsons, but there was a Commando carbine elsewhere and somebody had a Long Branch dewat Sten for 450., which i didn't think was too bad.

Grizz
The G43 was listed at $4250. I got all excited when I saw it but the closer I looked the more I was turned off. Some kid was there that I was trying to get info from but he really didn't have a clue and was trying to tell me what he thought I wanted to hear to make a sale. An older guy saw I was getting frustrated and came over to help and he was quite helpfull in answering my questions on it. In the end I couldn't find two numbers that matched on the whole gun so that price was way out of line for a totaly mismatched shooter.

Guess I'll keep searching....

Some people would rather display their stuff than sell it.
By pricing it stupidly high, they get to display it next month too!

Walmart, on the other had, got fabulously wealthy by pricing stuff so that it moves fast.

He also had a seat reserved and waiting for him inside,a table to set his coffee on and all...after walking past all you guys in the lineup waiting to get in.:D
and first pick of the goodies.

That is unfortunate, I was looking at a 1914 Colt Commercial Model, Canadian Contract Model in completely original shape, named to an officer in the Loyal Eddies in WW1 and the gentleman wouldn't sell it. I did everything to try and restrain my salivating but no luck.

One the other hand I seen a second one there, with IPSC stipple tape on the frame and probably with other replacement parts that the sellar thought I was stupid enough to pay in excess of $2,500.00 for.

Walmart has a good supply.

Did anyone else notice the 1200$ sks? Forgive my ignorance but what makes a sks worth 1200?

Maybe a gold-plated bolt carrier and bayonet???:p

I don't think there's an SKS out there worth anywhere near that - unissued and unrefurbed or not.

I'm working all weekend and so couldn't go to the show, but reading threads like this is why I usually go only to look, not buy.

On another note I'm still looking for the elusive Vz 52/57 mags.

I was just there and I think it was an imperial guard kinda deal. I noticed that it had a shiny 10" Ceremonial style spire on it. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought it was only 450. But even then I'm thinking it was still to much.
I was actually was looking for 2 or 3 SKS's for around 175-195 (Tula's) and was disappointed as there were none really and the few that were there are super expensive.

I was at the show for all 3 days and thoroughly enjoyed it. Many guys prices were a bit out of reality. I think I brought about 16 or so rifles and dewats, and only came home with one, so I guess my pricing was OK.

I didn't buy any rifles, but did get some howitzer stuff I wanted, along with a great lead on another cannon, which I may go for. But that's enough bragging for now.

I was with Granite looking at the LB Sniper. Rifle may have been correct LB but it definitely had some brit parts installed, along with the mismatched scope, bracket, can and Cno7 chest. There was a rifle serial number stamped on the bracket which looked a little suspect, but in all honesty, at $7500 for a mis-matched rifle, I wasn't looking that close by then.

There were one or two outright fake snipers at the show, but anyone with a reasonable amount of knowledge and caution should have been able to pick them out. It certainly makes the purchase of books before buying a worthwhile investment.

The star of the show for me was the Webley with the bayo and shoulder stock, had to do a double take on that. Saw the repro no 32s etc, but didnt really see as much as I had hoped for in the way of milsurps. I was disapointed on that front. The Berthiers were nice up near Wolverine, but not really my thing.
There was some good collectable milsurp ammo, I missed out on a very nice 5,8 Mondragon because the price was 150$. By the time I thought I would get it and went back it was gone.

I picked up some surplus 7.62x39 ammo from Wolverine, $200 a crate can't complain. The show was probably the smallest I have ever seen it though.

The one on the painted peg board rack? That was a nice one. Too bad he wanted $700 for a 1950 LB and for a Brit #4 with a 4T butt on it. :D

Ya that's the one,it will needs a little TLC but other than adding a few part she is a nice piece in the collection. He had another one but was display only.

I open the butte and found the proper oil bottle as well.

P38's

I looked basically for P38's... and believe it or not, I found ONE... it was an AC44 in pretty good shape... BUT DEACTIVATED!!! What a shame... and the price tag? The seller asked for $725...!!!
