Milsurps still in use

We took this PPSH off a local on my last tour and it quickly went into service with the local ANA ;)

Not just PPSH milsurp. Looks like ANA also used hand-me-down PRC 25/77.

Polish Wz.49 SKS

A few thousand Russian SKS's were given to Poland in order to have Poland manufacture and use them. They instead chose the AK47. The Russian SKS's were re-stocked and used for their honor guard since, and they continue to do so. Poland never made any SKS's, so I guess these are Russian Milsurps in a pretty stock :)

A member of the honour guard stands in front of the National War Memorial during the End of an Era ceremony in Ottawa today.

It's more reenactment than honour guard, but it's a Lee-Enfield, in public.

Lee Enfields can still be seen in some Commonwealth African countries.

I am currently in Malawi and the police here use an assortment of donated arms, including Lee Enfields. In fact I saw an officer AD his No.4 through the roof of the Dedza Police Station about a month ago:eek:

I have seen No.4 's used a few times here and the Army seem to have old RSA rifles - Mainly R4's and old R1's (FN FAL clones).

National Parks use a lot of M16's, which I understand were donated for anti-poaching corps.

Amazing thread this. Can't wait to see more images.
Growing up in Australia, I think I can recall the ceremonial use of Lithgow's during various remembrance events, can anyone confirm?

This thread has turned out to be a lot of fun hunting around the internet to see what's floating around in this world of ours!

MP-44 in the foreground, and what looks to be a K98 back to the left. Also I'm pretty sure that the 4th rifle in is a Carcano carbine. Other than that, these are some mystery rifles indeed!

"Women of the West Somali Liberation Front express their support for Somalia during the war against Ethiopia for the border territory of the Ogaden in 1977-8. Although Somalia lost the war due to Russian and Cuban intervention, unrest persists in the border areas. "
And in Iraq more recently:

The thread also has some great pics of a '43 produced MG42 captured in what looks like Iraq http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?41156-US-Soldier-With-MP44/page3

The hunt continues!

The second one in - upraised with the barrel heat shroud and the double set triggers... WTF is that?

It's a Beretta Model 38A SMG.

That's a pretty motley selection of guns in that picture. Besides the StG 44, K98, a Carcano, and the Beretta previously mentioned, I see a Hakim, M14, and possibly either an M16 or AR-10. It's hard to say what the two rifles with fixed bayonets are; one or both might be a VZ 52.

I've got to get a Hakim...

I don't understand why there are not more of those semi-auto battle rifles with the protruding 10-round magazine. I've always liked the way the Hakim and Ljungmann looked.
