MIM Bolt Breaks M305 2016

On a related note has anybody had any issues getting a hold of north SYLVA ? I have had a difficult time with their website not loading and there is no contact information that I can find, any help would be appreciated thank you

I've had the same thing happen to my M305!!!! North Sylva has been pretty good about it to me. They gave me an RMA number and said a new bolt would be around $100 plus the price of shipping there and back (Sudbury - Toronto)

I wonder if it'd be better to have a LRB bolt fitted for the m305 as oppose to a replacement MIM?

Don't know why you should have to buy a replacement bolt, if yours failed the way the others did, with a snapped off locking lug.
Can't see any point in installing another MIM bolt.
A USGI or US commercial bolt should be a permanent solution.
 
Just an update I have had great difficulty getting a hold of north Sylva either through phoning or email. Marstar Was unable to assist me because I cannot produce the original order number because I am second owner. Luckily a great member on this forum helped me out and is shipping me an earlier bolt as we speak. It’s not the end of the world for me and I have enjoyed this platform very much so I am just going to carry on with life, replace the bolt, check the headspace and fire away . Thank you everyone for all the great suggestions .
 
WOW these M305 importers/dealers are shady these days.
make a guy pay 100 bucks to replace his defective bolt?
not replace a defective part on rifle they know they imported but won't because of a lack of an order number?

Responsible dealers should be buying these rifles back and dumping them on the importers desk with a big WTF?
From what I've seen so far of these new rifles..... I would say it will only be a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured.
 
The serial number will tell a business if they sold a particular rifle.

One lug failure is an isolated incident. When there are a number of identical failures, there is a serious problem right back to the manufacturer.

There isn't necessarily a problem with cast bolts - Ruger has been doing it for decades. But MIM doesn't appear to be an appropriate manufacturing process for centerfire rifle bolts.

Well said!! Shouldn’t they be providing confidence in the products they sell and supporting the customer at their expense?

They keep records of what they bought don’t they? Serial numbers are traceable.

They should be complaining to their supplier to correct the problem. If ethics isn’t enough of a motivator, aren’t they at least worried about the liability laws?

yep... NS strikes again.

If I ended up with an M305 with a MIM bolt, it would get a new LRB, Fulton or USGI bolt fitted before the first range outing. Bet on it.
