Mini-14 and AR Mag size comparison.

Anyone have both AR-15 and Mini-14 magazines? I am looking to build a magazine for a project rifle and looking to cannibalize some sort of .223 double stack magazine for parts. I am wondering if the Mini-14 magazines are any thinner then AR mags.

If you can post a pic or some dimensions i would appreciate it,

AR mags look to be just a hair thicker.
both mags are near identical except that the mini-14 ones are straighter.
the AR ones have a bit more of a curve to them, you can tell when they are side by side the AR ones come over and overlap over the mini 14 ones.

keep in mind they have a different way that they are kept in the guns.
the AR has that side cut out near the top where the mini14 has that hole in the front and that block part in the back.

oh, and the AR ones are a bit longer.

these 2 im comparing are both 30rd mags pinned to 5.

the mini14 mag is in my hand. notice the follower is different. also take note of where the mag is released from. on the mini; it catches on the back. With an AR its on the side. hope it helps.

^^ notice his mag on the right? that hole in the front of the mag is very important too. Mini mags get "rotated" into position. AR mags go straight up

Mini-14 mags look a bit thinner, might be enough.
