I recently picked up a brand new mini 14. when i was lubing it up i noticed the screws that hold the gas block together to be unevenly tighten, so one side of the gas block there is a very noticable gap. so I was wondering could i just loosen the side thats too tight and close the gap by tightening the other side to make it even. or is their more to it.

thanks

Check to see how it groups first. Mine looks a bit uneven but shoots fine.

See p. 26 -

Removal of the gas block assembly is not necessary and is not advisable. The gas
block assembly is factory fitted using special fixtures and torque tools. Attempting
to fit the gas block assembly without the required special equipment can result in
damage to the components and malfunctioning of the rifle

Check to see if the gas block is square to the receiver, I always make sure the piston is center so the operating rod runs is a true straight line.
