Mini 14 or Mini 30

I've seen KCI after market 30/5rd mini 30 mags. I don't own a single stainless steel gun. All of them are good old wood and blued steel. I dig stainless guns though. I'd buy one but then the cheap side of me says "no, you can buy the same gun but blued for much less."

Some people complain that the mini 30 has trouble with hard 7.62x39 primers and steel cased ammo .... Some people claim that Wolff springs solve that. There doesn't seem to be a consensus on that, but most people claim the mini 14 can gobble anything. If you're stuck with brass cased ammo, then the mini 30 gets expensive to shoot. I don't have any experience with either of these rifles, but that's what I could find with Google.
Yes I can attest to that as My 30 had a few light strikes on some Czech made steel case ammo. Had never experienced this before and required a new spring to remedy the issue and also stopped purchasing this ammo. Now when I purchase ammo I investigate to ensure the primer depth is acceptable.

I recently purchased a brand new ss synthetic mini 14 .it actualy does an honest 1.5 to 2 moa. Like op that's good enough for me.I was thinking about a mini 30 , but it realy doesn't do anything an sks doesn't in my opinion with open sights

Cz/vz in both 5.56 and 7.62x 39 run around $1100 these days the same price as the mini's . A nork 5.56 is about the same... .. it is a non restricted bullpup and can take 10 lar mags
Browning bar i think is in that range too to start... but im not sure if you will find it in 7.62 x 39
Anyone who owns a mini 30 does so as a matter of taste (they can't be faulted, the ranch rifles are beauts) especially since you can buy an sks for 199$ right now. Neither the t-97 or cz/vz can be argued to be better rifles since they have documented reliability issues and the t-97 has virtually no support. The Benelli mr1 would be a no brainer if it was the same price as a mini 14 because it takes AR mags, but at 900$ more it doesn't make good sense especially considering there is no accuracy increase. The Mini 14 is the best semi 5.56/.223 bang for your buck in this country. If the AR was non-restricted things would be much different.

Edit: I am referring to the vz/cz 5.56 rifles not the 7.62x39. The 7.62 rifles are great

apparently the VZ 5.56 has been fixed... it was issues with:
the firing pin breaking. they stopped filing down 7.62 ons and just made 5.56 one.
and the other issue was badly cut chambers/headspacing... also fixed.

the mini's are ###y... but its like going out with the crazy chick.... you never are quite sure what new hell is going to come your way with them.

I would argue the CZ's are much better rifles then mini's
As for the T97... its not better... but it has better features...

I've had and sold a vz58 for two reasons

1)It's not stainless which for me is a deal breaker
2)The magazine fits to snuggly and can make reloading to slow, while that may seem minor to periodic sport shooters. My primary rifle must be reliable and user friendly. I tried to train the problem away but the mini will always be faster.

Good idea though
