So, that SKS with the rounds is looking pretty tempting, that's alot of ammunition. How is mounting sights on the SKS, for a scope? Is there grooves in the gun, or would i need to get them put in? Or get a rail mounted on it.
The SKS is cheap and it will kill coyotes just as dead as the mini. I have both and should just mention that if you were to run into one of our friendly C.O.'s and you had a SKS with a clip full of the FMJ's that you get with it you will have some explaining to do. It is a big no no to use FMJ for anything but target shooting. Get a mini and some cheapy 45 gr hollow points and put the hurt on the dogs or invite a few local CGNer's to come around and I am sure they will be more than glad to put a few of those wily coyotes to sleep for you.
Well, i went to TNT, and got an SKS, the gun was $279, and, i didn't have access to my debit card to spend more then $500 a day, so, i'm going to go back and get the 1140 rounds of ammunition.
Edit:
Here's a picture,
Sorry for the quality, it's from my cell, and it's dark out already so it's bad lighting.
Good choice. I had both and they're both great little guns. For the price you can't go wrong with an SKS. I'm sure if you look around you can find some hollow point ammo for it, or all else if all else fails handload em.
The nice thing with the SKS is, when you get right up close and personal you've got the bayonet to fall back on. Have fun with the coyotes.
i have had over a dozen minis. my first one was bought from a guy that had it for wolfs. they work all the time every time, but some shoot better then others. my 6.8 was all over the page, but my 184 shoots 1.5 moa with a 2 power scope all day. some shoot some don't. they are a great gun for the price but my cz 858 will do the same job for less price. i have three cz 858s. ammos cheeper
if your into reloading the sks is the way to go. 1120 rounds for 199+ taxes = $222.88 in Manitoba, roughly 19 cents per round. Get a bullet puller, and start pulling your FMJ's out and handloading your new, unfired berdan primed cases. You can use whichever load works best for you as well as bullet styles.
