Hello,

I bought a new stock for my mini-14 and I got it put toghter correctly with only one minor hiccup.

The 2 large screws on either side of the stock came out of the original wood stock no problem, however, when I went to put them back in to the new synthetic stock, only one side caught and screwed in. On the other side, the screw just plops in the hole and will not catch.

I took the trigger assembly out and put the screws in the stock, and they don't look like they screw into anything at all. There is nothing on the trigger assembly or anywhere else that has threads through it for these screws. I took the one screw that seemed to catch threads and put it back in and all it was doing was screwing itself into the stock.

So, are these things a big deal or not? I kind of get the impression that they aren't, but WTF do I know? Should I just run down to Home Depot and get some bigger screws?

Anyways, here's a picture of what I'm talking about. Thanks for the advice.

Yep, I didn't realize I needed those steel pieces. I took it out of the wood stock and put it in the new one.

Your help is much appreciated.
