mini-14 scope

I toyed with the idea of putting a Leupold compact on mine too as they look like they may be the perfect Mini 14 type scope. Sounds like you have a great set up.
 
I had a Bushnell Scopechief 4-12x40 (B&L) on my 184 series. Shot lots of 'yotes on this setup. No fear of going out to 300 yards with it either. Minimum 600 rounds through the gun and the scope still held zero. Just my $0.02 . Good luck with your search.

i picked up a mini 14 racch for 450 new with such a short barrel i installed 4x14 44mm cheap bell on it have tactical on 223 target rifle 3x9x50mm leo on x-bolt the mini is just used to pop targets for fun
 
I'm realy leaning toward leaper scops but i cant seem to to find them anywere in canada. Wede could o find one?
 
If you haven't already decided on a scope, I have the Nikon Prostaff 3-9X with a 40 mm ojb. If I remember right it was around $300 I am happy enough with it, the optics are quite clear but its not a Leupold or anything, and really you are only shooting a mini anyways. Normally the rifle sits in the back of my truck, and I am not worried about having to re-zero the scope even after driving down a bumpy gravel road.

I orderd a 3-9x40 leaper. I understand its not a top qualaty glass, but my budget was around 75 to 100 $ and for that price there was not much choice. In the leaper i found target turrets, illuminated mil-dot reticle and those were features i was looking for. I should have it in a week or so how ever il be leaving for vacation , but il revew it wen i come back.
 
Just a note..watch the objective size on your scope as the handguard has a raised area that can touch the bell of the scope. You will see a small round piece of metal on the handguard and the plastic is raised around it. I used a dremel to ever so slightly knock it down some.
I have the 580 series Mini -14 and am amazed at how well the open sights work. I bought a scope for the rifle but it sits so high on the factory rings I pulled it off and shoot irons.
