Hey guys...I tried to search this but the search function is very frustrating. My question is about the mini 14 target rifle with the hogue stock. I have read a ton of reviews and good reports about the laminate version but does anyone have any experience with the hogue stocked version. Does the stock have the integral alumnium bedding block? Is the accuracy on par with the laminate? I suspect it should be but that heavy stock might tame vibration a bit more??? If anyone has one or can give me some personal experience let me know. Post a pic with a scope mounted as well if possible.

Thanks guys

Mine's been working pretty good. It will keep 60 gr V-Maxes around a minute from the bench. I'm still working on 62 and 69 gr loads. Sorry don't have pics of the bedding, I believe it's similar to all the Minis with synthetic stocks. The scope on mine is a basic Leupold VX 1 2-7x33. It does what I expect from it and seems to be a reasonable size for the rifle. I don't have the laminate version nor have I fired one, so I can't really say how it would compare overall.

Before I bought mine, I tried out the synthetic version. I was previously advised to go with the Laminate since it was more rigid. I have to agree, although I liked the looks of the synthetic, the Laminate is more rigid and better for target shooting. Unless you're going to use it as a walking around varminter, I'd get the Laminate.

Whichever one you choose, I'd recommend taking it in to a gunsmith to have the trigger worked on. My stock trigger sucked. Now it's very smooth, and much lighter with a crisp let off. There is some travel but not much and it's smooth. It's a huge improvement.

Was considering it for a walking varminter. Of course the laminate looks ###ier and has the cool factor but I was really thinking practicallity. The hogue is a pound lighter and it waaay easier to hold onto with mitts. (those ruger laminates are slippery). The thumbmhole is nice for using shooting sticks though. Arrg. tuff decision. I know a couple guys who sold their laminates b/c of the weight. But goddam are they ###y. The hogue is much more practical............................................ I'm torn.

Any Idea how to mount a Bi-pod on the laminate stocked ones there is no meat to mount a stud on the for stock?
