Mini 14 Target Scope Mounting (Newbie)

I’m a hunter and usually put my scopes on, level to the eye and go. Always been fine. But with my vortex CF2 and BDC reticle I’d like to take my time with proper torque tools and proper information to do it right. And probably re-do my hunting scopes again as well.

So I’ve seen the little magnet wheeler reticle levels, they come in the whole “kit” I was going to buy, but after looking at the action of the mini 14 ,doesn’t look like you could get them to sit very well. Opinions?

I’ve seen the gold colored precision level from wheeler that mounts to the barrel, looks like it would be much more firm and higher precision. But seems a bit extreme to buy the wheeler kit with the torque driver and the lapping bars, PLUS the precision reticle level system,

So just looking for options and opinions regarding all this. Thanks

If you are interested I am in Ottawa too. I could show you how to do it properly. I have all the tools needed.

If you want to buy a set, a wheeler kit is OK for most, but if you have any other use for a in-lb screwdriver I would buy a better tool.

The little level kits work well too. But I still like to use a plum line.

Id be interested in taking you up on that offer for sure. i dont have much use for a torque driver outside of gunsmithing. i havent seen much else on the market though other then wheeler. when it come to tools though i dont like to cheap out. when you use the plum line procedure, what tools would we require. id like to have my own but maybe you could show me one time type thing.
