200 rounds through an SU-16 without malfunctions is not really an indication of reliability or longevity - When I'm having fun I put 200 rounds through my AR (or swiss carbine, or M96) in 5 to 15 minutes depending on just how much fun I'm having :)

It will take thousands of rounds & many months (years?) to really see how the SU-16 is built. The mini has already proved it is reliable in terms of round count & years of life.

So it depends on what you are really looking for - a cool AR type non-res rifle you can hop up with aftermarket parts (that may or may not be reliable & last in the long run) - or a proven platform that can take a beating but is possibly not as accurate or as cool.

And I did own a mini for awhile & sold it because I prefer the "black" rifle style & ergos, and was able to get one that was non-res as well as some restricteds.

SU-16 all the way
i have both
i'll never piss ammo away again by wasting it in the ruger,

100 yard with the SU 16 get groups about the size of a quarter,
mini-14 scatter patterns reminiscent of a 12guage cylinder bore

The SU16 has been out in the US for quite some time and some of the guys on Keltog have put several thousands of rounds through their various SU16 models and most have had no problems, a few had some problems that came down to ammunition and a couple had complete failures of the rifle which Kel Tec had no problems in warrantying.

Put over 1000 rounds through mine, 200 yesterday at 100 and 200 yards.

Not had a single issue with mine, also have sub2k and no issues with that either, very happy with keltec products.
