I've had a bunch of Mini's over the years, some reasonably accurate, some not so much. All have been very reliable, and my current Hogue-stocked Target model is also very accurate. I've owned an AR180B, three different Swiss Arms, an HBAR Colt AR-15, and I've sold all of them without regret...but I will always have a Mini. I just like'em.
My Target model approaches the accuracy of a Swiss Arms, and so far has matched the reliability (i.e. no failures or stoppages of any kind) for less than a third of the price. It is one of my favourite coyote rifles.
I like the looks of the HK SL-8, but hate the ergonomics. I like the ergonomics of the Benelli MR-1, but hate the looks. The AR is now restricted, so I have no interest (when I owned mine they were non-restricted). The Swiss is nice, but just doesn't turn my crank...it sure isn't the Holy Grail that it's fanboys make it out to be. The AR180 offered great value-for-money, but it felt cheap, used a scope mounting system designed by Fred Flintstone and provided accuracy that was merely OK, not significantly better than most of my older Mini's. To me, the only dark horse in the race is the XCR...I've never shot or even handled one, but would like to.
No, Mini's aren't cheap...but they are less expensive, in many cases MUCH less expensive, than all the other choices. The exception here may be the Kel-Tec SU-16, if and when it shows up. If it does, I'll probably try one...but I'll keep my Mini, thank you.
