I hear wendy and her colation of idiots hyping up the mini 14.
I supposed her free advertising has really intreged me and I was wondering if they are really as good as she says.
Where can I get one and/or how much for a new one or a used one?

mini14/mini30

I have used mini 14's for many years and they are a good gun. Not TGT grade guns, but they are very dependable. Magazines and accessories are reasonable, price wish. She never got them restricted the first time round because they are used by farmers, fishermen and others.

If they do become restricted and I have one will it be grandfathered. thus giving me a restricted lisence? or will it be taken from me.
There is always the chance that the lieberals (or some evil varient) or ndp (or some other socolist party) will get back into power.

I think if you have one and it becomes restricted you would have to get a restricted license.
However if it becomes prohibited, then you'd be grandfathered.
Eithe way you wouldn't be able to hunt with it.

As far as the mini14, I was looking at the mini14 target, and it seems really nice.
Since I'm considering a .223 I was wondering if it would be a decent comparison to a bolt gun, or if they're not even in the same class accuracy wise.

I have a brand new Mini 14 581 series. It is more accurate than my older 580 series but at 100 yds delivers 2.5" groups. With my Remington 700 .270 bolt, I can place 5 inside 1". This will suffice as a realistic comparison of the accuracy between a target gun and a Mini 14. I still very much enjoy shooting the Mini which is why I bought another one.

GET ONE and join the Mini 14 cult!!!!

Don't let that blasphemous heretic Cukier discourage you from getting one.

They are reasonably accurate rifles that work quite well as a knock-about carbine.

I will be getting one in December, and I'm really hoping to pickup an ATI folding stock to make it even "scarier". Fired one of my friends recently and instantly needed my own. Lots of fun!! On the topic, without hijacking (or maybe I am) - can anyone offer a good idea for optics on the ATI stock or should I stick with iron sights? Kind of want a tacticool red dot or maybe a scout scope so I can use the front rail that comes with the stock.

I don't think I would got with the target model. I can't see the heavy barrel adding that much to accuracy vs. the extra weight and expense.
Anyone here have both to compare?

To add a "Red dot" you will need the rail kit. Cant remember who makes it but the mini has a ruger scope ring mount that doesn't fit most red dots and requires a rail.

I was looking at it as more of a coyote gun I seem to be seeing more of them then deer the past few years..

Mini14's

I have a Mini14 in great shape! So nice I just baught another one which I won't mind taking on the tractor or the A T V. If it gets scratched, well I got it to use it.
Accuracy is always important , however the semi auto feature and a detachable mag for traveling on a motorised vehicle in coyote cuontry, priceless.

I have a target with a laminated stock, just shot a .6 in 5 shot group at 100 yds with some factory ammo. That was just to sight it in, no tuning the harmonic balencer. I wasn't trying to get a good group per say and I could do better i'm sure.
