Extra added whiz-bang goodies ?

I dunno is there anything that can be added to a Mini-14 to obtain better than 'minute-of-barn' accuracy from them?

My mini-14 is accurate enough maybe 1-2 inch @ 100 yards (no more than 2" anyway)

I've heard this complaint frequently and wounder if I got lucky and got a good mini or, are the people making these claims as per the norm; never having owned or shot one.

picked up my mini used a while back, not too sure what was done to it but its accurized, trigger job, weighted barrel, shoots great just the other day hit a budwiser cap while resting on my backpack on the hood of my truck from 80 yards... ok i'll be honest i hit it on my 3rd shot..... deffinitely happy with it

"What more do people expect from a rifle like the mini or even the ar platform ?"

Mil-spec for the M16 is 10rounds in 5" @ 100yds...

Most AR's will do better than 5" @ 100yds. Easily.

In my experience, the mini-14& 30 are pieces of crap. I have at one point or another owned both of them. Biggest POS out there, as far as I'm concerned.

Ummmmm.....OK..........

The minis, when used as intended, are far from a POS. (Unless, of course, you feel the M-14 and Garand are also pieces of ####?) That's a hell of a lineage. The minis are rugged, reliable, and accurate enough (especially the newer models) to do what they were intended for....and then some.

Add to this the fact that they are half the price of an AR, and I cant justify spending twice as much money for a gun that really doesn't offer anything different. Also, next time you have your AR out in the field....oh wait....you CAN'T bring your AR out into the field! Hmmmm.....That makes sense.....I'll spend 15-2500 on a gun that can sit in the safe unless I want to take it to the range......hell of alot of $$ to spend on a gun that can only be used to punch paper, esp when there are FAR superior rifles available for that $ to punch paper with.

Sorry, but you may consider my mini's a POS, the main diffrence is this: While your sitting at home fondling your AR, I'm actually out in the field carrying my Mini.

+1 on Ryan's comments. I own 2, 1 plainjane & 1 custom. The custom will print nice little 3 shot cloverleaves at 100, the regular does just over 2 1/2 ", both with winchester white box stuff. There's good ones & bad ones in every crowd, but on the whole, they are decent fun guns. Besides which, they are NON-RESTRICTED! They can go out in the field, legally. Therein lies the advantage over an AR. Now where's that damn coyote????

If you have a Mini 14 that shoots three shot groups circa 2" at 100 yards keep it. Use it to win bets from those of us who owned them and found "minute of pie plate" accuracy. The best mine ever did was three shots into 6" at 100 yards and was closer to 10 inches most often.

ouch... if mine did that i would be choked too.. maybe i'll take mine out to the range and make a few bucks with it:)

Years ago I had one and used it for gophers definitely not as accurate as a bolt gun but back then 30 rd mags were legal. Just plain fun.
