Mini 30 got a whitetail

Finally took the Mini 30 out 3 days ago and got this nice little whitetail. Stocked up on him to about 75 yrds, a Hornady did the rest, he ran about 5 yrds. Anyone else use a Mini for hunting? It's not a long range like my Winchester 70 in 7mm, but it was light and my torn shoulder doesn't hurt as much.

Yes but my size makes it easier to sneak up on deer..

Nice going!! Great looking son you have there teach him well. Just goes to prove that super dooper extended range shoulder busting rifles are not needed. the deer do not have bullet proof hides. A properly place bullet works every time.

My hunting partner hunts with a Ruger Mini chambered in 6.8 spc. He has taken several whitetails with it & want to use it for black bear over bait. It is not a particularly accurate rifle, but does get the job done.

Yeh they won't be doing long range sniper work, but for 100 to 150 yard deer hunting it will do.

I saw my buddies mini up close recently, it looked like a really fun rifle, with pretty decent peep sites on it. I would be proud to take a deer with it, as I am sure you are.
