Just me day dreaming again but wouldn't it be awesome to have a smaller version of the M82A1 chambered in .223 or .308? And a little smaller than the actual size. It would be pretty wicked!
The firearms of the designs commonly known as the Barrett "Light Fifty" Model 82A1 rifle and the Barrett Model 90 rifle, and any variants or modified versions of them.
I know it's not a military cartridge but I would buy one in 30.06!
It started as a military cartridge
If you look at what's considered an M16 or AK-47 variant, you'll note that the RCMP has a precedent of classifying if it even looks remotely like the firearm it was modeled after, regardless of innards. That's true.
And also why would it be prohibited? I thought they made it prohib because it was 50 BMG and also if it was smaller size and maybe if had different internals it could be non restricted .

Well that just blows. There is nothing wrong "scary" about the gun. I don't see why they had to prohibit it in the first place.
On a side note I heard on CRR that a new Canadian company is making bolt action 50s that we can buy... maybe they'll make something thats like a scaled down Barrett.
That would be cool
AR's were going to be prohib, too. DCRA made the argument that they shouldn't be, so that's why we have the cluster#### situation we have right now...Well M16 variants are classified as restricted because they are based off an assault rifle pattern. AK's are prohibited because the RCMP think that they are based off an assault rifle pattern that belong to commie baby eaters.
I got to say though there is a lot scary about a barrett. In my books that makes it awesome-er?
I think I saw something like what you are looking for, in a smaller calibre. I'll take a pic of it and post it here in the next few days. I guess maybe dreams can come true, but from my understanding with talking to the owner, it's pretty pricey.
