Too much coffee in me at the time, but - - First rounds fired!

25 yards indoor range.
Aimpoint Comp M4s with a 2 MOA dot.
146gr Portuguese NATO BALL surplus ammunition.
I was in a caffeinated rush so it's not my best effort... I forgot to bring my group tightening Wind Talker.
All that being said - I am a happy Blackfeather owner.

Top left: 5 rounds, off hand - rapid fire.
Top center: 10 rounds from the rest - with optic adjustments.
Top right: 10 rounds from the rest.
Bottom center: 11 rounds from the rest.

The rifle handles great, and it's a pleasure to fire off hand.

I'll go back to the range in a few days.
I'll bring the suppressor and some 168gr ammo.
I will take my time, and see what it can do.

for a truly fair evaluation, I would like to see two rifles, built the same, in a sage ebr and a black feather
10 round group deliberate fire from rest at 100 meters
then 10 round groups deliberate fire at battle zero of 300 meters
results with warm/hot barrels should be interesting and is why I suggest deliberate fire

I think that would be an interesting comparison from someone so experienced with the sage ebr.
I did the same with one of the early black feathers and a sage , will be interesting to see your results regardless.

I like the sounds of that, but my only other M14 is a 22" medium heavy barreled Crazy Horse M21A5 EBR.

Length as pictured: 44.75in.

Weight as pictured with 20 in the mag.

FDE RS: 14lbs. 7.0oz.

NSG EBR: 17lbs. 14.8oz.

My findings on this subject will and always have been written off as being biased so it's probably better for all of us if others post results of their reviews/comparisons.
I will say, tho I'm not a fan of the high sight plane of the mounts and the handgaurd rail... The most recent BF system with handgaurd does look pretty damn badass I must admit.

I felt the same way about a high sight plane right up until I got the Rogue kit... that kit jacks the optic up even higher than the LSP, but once you find that sweet spot where you are aligned naturally with the optic... you are golden. I'm sure there is some sort of recalculation required for any added height over bore when you push your ammunition to it's limits, but I'm not shooting at anywhere near that distance yet.

Observations & comments

I am more of an iron sight & RDS shooter, so one thing that I would like to see Frank design for the M14.ca Blackfeather system
is a butt stock adapter that lowers the comb down to USGI wood/synthetic stock height without repositioning the pistol grip.

This would allow shooters to use the existing iron sights & co-witness the irons through an appropriate red dot mounted on a SHG.

Of course the LSP is all that and a bag of chips for everyone that shoots with a scope, and wants flip-up battle sights.
The standard butt stock adapter works well with LSP.

I have had a private owner of a SAGE offer to send me one to do install and tests. I may just do that to compare the SAGE and BF using the same rifle. I have my ORG installed in a way that it won't be too hard to remove. It's a very tight slip-fit, so to change it would be quite easy.

I could do the same, but the rifles are quite different.

16.25" standard weight barrel.
22.00" medium heavy barrel.

Not really apples to apples.
