Mini Shells in 1301?

I've heard that the mini's just don't cycle reliably in semi-auto's...or pumps for that matter.

I bought 3 boxes of Aguila 12G 1-3/4" 7-1/2 shot minis with the intention of using them for low noise bush road chicken whacking. I assumed they wouldn't cycle properly from my short barrel grizzly pump shotgun and was right. They jam up when cycling. No big deal, I'll just single shot them.

Then it dawned on me that I couldn't legally use them anyway with that pump guns configuration for road grouse because of the 3 round regulation. I confirmed with fish & wildlife I would have to lengthen the plug in the tube to only hold two minis and I didn't want to do that, so much for the mini idea in the pump gun.

Shot a dozen or so chickens with them using a single shot Cooey and they slayed them just fine, but I didn't like the long barrel for a truck shotgun and just went back to target loads in the pump gun.
Family and friends kids shot the rest off for me and they liked the low recoil.

For my 590 Shockwave SPX, I have an OpSol 2.0 adapter installed the feed ramp area - they are like $25 and basically a big chunk of hard rubber that is formed a certain way...minishells and short shells cycle perfectly in the pump as a result. I am not sure whether the Opsol adapter is only for selected Mossberg pumps but maybe something to consider.

Pick up a coach gun , get a follow up shot nice and quick and no feed problems. Tried the short shells in an 870 and unless you were very agressive with the slide racking they would not feed properly.

Single shot cooey and a hacksaw make for a great gun for bush chickens. I did that with an old .410

I have a little 14" barrel Sinsinati 410 that I carry on quads that I could have used for a truck chicken gun, but damn that thing is loud.
I'm not going to bother with mini's any more for hunting unless I stumble across a short barrel double coach gun at an outrageous low price.
I will get a bunch more for family & friends kids to shoot from the cooey, the look on their faces blasting things with low recoil shotgun is worth every penny.

I tried some Challenger Mini slugs and buck in a 1301 and no bueno. Will not cycle the action.
They work great in my 590S though.
Recoil wise I thing my 590 with minis feels about the same as 1301 with 00 Tactical Buck (1145fps)
