Minimum length of barrel for telescoping stock

Okay so i searched for it couldnt find it i dont yet have a telescoping stock and im trying to figure out if its worth it
MY QUESTION : ( on a remington 870 ) With a telescoping stock, how long does the barrel have to be to keep it none restricted? i heard if you make the over all length too short then the gun becomes a restricted firearm but im not sure how short the telescoping stocks are fully closed and i dont want it to become restricted that would piss me off big time.

Holy! 26" barrel with a telescoping stock? there are other telescoping stocks that dont automatically make the firearm restricted though right?
Wait that cant be right? you only need a 18.5" barrel for pistol grip why would it be more for telescoping?

The overall length has to be more than 26 inches. Barrel length required to meet that will depend on the type of stock you install.
 
He meant 26" as an overall length of the gun with the stock folded, or telescoped to its shortest length including the barrel.

The length of the barrel does not matter provided that the barrel was not "cut" to less than 18" on a manually operated shotgun. 18.5" on a semi-auto shotgun.

A barrel may be any length less than the above sizes if it was made that way at the factory.
