Miniwax on my Browning?

Will I do any harm to my 1964 Browning aA5's stock by putting some Miniwax floor and exterior furniture wax on it?

Any benefit?

I want something to make the finish just a bit more waterproof in the rain and to go into the bare wood where the scratches are.

A better wax to use is Birchwood Casey gunstock wax. I use it on all of my guns.Both on the wood and the metal. It protects against both moisture and oily finger prints.
