Here's a reply I got from Novak, the sight manufacturer. I am considering changing the sights out on my Para SSP for their Extreme Duty adjustable sights.

If your gun has LDA sights on it we do make a sight that will fit the LDA dovetail but may require a little fitting. We can mail to Canada as we are not set up to ship UPS there.

Is this "little fitting" something that I may be able to do with a Dremel tool or should I bring it to a 'smith to install them. I contacted Novak directly because the gunstore I went to 2 months ago hasn't been able to bring in a set for me as yet. :eek:
 
Light Fitting is NEVER done with a dremel. It will liklely require some light stoning of the dovetail to ensure a proper fit.....something you can do with patience and care...
 
gunasauras, thanks for the quick response. I can lightly stone the dovetail with patience and care. Just wasn't too sure about the terminology and wanted to be clear as to what I'd be facing before I commit to buying a set from Novak and cancelling my order from the gunstore. I wanted to make sure milling was NOT involved as I am not equipped nor experienced enough for it. :redface: On other forums, some were lucky enough to have them 'drop in' on their Paras.

There seems to be a lot of wondering in regards to our Sight Dove Tail Dimensions, so we thought it might be a good idea to post them in the hopes that the moderator will make a sticky for all persons looking for this information.

Our Rear Sight Dovetail on all models is Standard 0.375" 30 degrees
Our Front Sight Dovetail on all models is Standard 0.250" 20 degrees

Since the original 1911 design called for a simple blade rear sight, and a staked front sight, there are no "standard" or "mil-spec" Sight Dovetail dimensions. The dimensions we are using are very common, and if the industry were to somehow select a "standard", these dimensions would be the logical choice since many Sight Manufacturers are already utilizing them.
