My trusty 22 is a henry lever, which i love.

I was going for a regular walk in the woods the other day when i tripped and the rifle hit a large rock.

This damaged the finish in two spots - a light scrape on the barrel, and a spot on one of the metal straps that holds the stock on. The spot on the strap is the worst of the damage, it looks like the paint chipped clean off.

Here's a pic:

I'm wondering what the best method or products would be for a quick effective repair. I don't need to restore it to mint. I will never sell this gun and i don't mind my guns looking used. But i also don't want rust to set in and the protective finish to further deteriorate. And while i don't really care about looks, if i can keep from going full red-neck, that would be a bonus.

So, any suggestions?
Thanks!

Thanks for the replies everyone, I think I will try for the automotive touch up paint, I can get that easily at crappy Tire and I think that'll be the most durable. Thanks!

the best solution would be to take the band off the rifle, completely strip it, use a self etch primer and then a top coat

Take the barrel band off, sand it smooth where the damage is, then spray paint the whole band with Krylon spray paint (glossy), will look like new, and might be more durable.

On the barrel use cold blue to touch up, this is an easy fix.

Next time don't drink when you walk the woods :)
