Looking for a new scope for my varmint rig. Havent heard a lot about the minox brand. Similar to zeiss, made/owned be leica?? I am looking at the ZA 6-30x56. Retail for just over $800. Walmart in usa sells them for $620.
Anyone have one?
Anything better for the money?
I'll probably end up getting a used one to save some $$

I was looking at these too. Seems like they are just coming into Canada and it took me a while to find a dealer, but I did. Trouble is they are online so I have yet to look through one. Anybody have any comments on the glass?
The warranty and the price point for what you get are appealing.

i have three minox scopes. my first 1.5x8 the seal came loose in the objective after being used on my 338 t3. sent it in and recieved a new one. so far they seem really good for the $ value. bought them fro sight sponsor plainsight solutions.

rally guy isn't happy with his, but he hasn't given up yet: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?873917-minox-za5-1-5-8x32-pre-range-review

I have Minox binoculars (6.5x32mm IF) and spotting scope (MD50 16-30x50mm) and like the optical quality very much for the money, but I haven't tried a rifle scope from them yet.

I have been watching this thread. Any company that has that bad of quality control loses alot of respect in my eyes. I dont care how good the warranty or customer service is. If your paying for something that has a 100-300% markup on their products you expect hassle free quality. Lifetime useability if treated properly. Buying scopes is one of my biggest pet peeves.

Apparently they solved the QC control problems of lenses coming loose, and as long as you purchase a newer one they dont seem to have these problems anymore. However if you are purchasing from someone who doesnt move scopes very quickly you could still get one of the old batch. (Personally if I was buying one I would get it from Plainsight Solutions here on CGN because he moves a lot of volume so I could be certain they are not old stock) I was in Sudbury and stopped in at a sporting store and had a chance to spend about 2 hours viewing them one afternoon. I was quite skeptical but once I compared them to Bushnell 4200 & 6500, Burris tactical and Leupold I was very impressed - They have amazing eye relief , clarity and brightness especially when I compared them on the higher magnifications - I was looking at the ZA 5 3-15x50 and I believe it had 1/8 MOA adjustments which can be quite nice for longer range target shooting ( I looked at a few so I may have gotten the 1/8 MOA mixed with one of the other Minox). The only scope that I liked more out of their selection was the Zeiss Conquest which had a crisper feel to the turrets. AS a mid level scope they give you a lot of quality for your $$. As always it depends upon your eyes, budget and purpose.
