Hi guys looking at purchasing some minox bino's from camera land, has anyone used the Minox BD 10x42 BR ASPH or the Minox BV 10x42 BR. I want them for hunting so any comments on durability and low light use would be great.

Thanks

Hi poorpi
I have a pair from Camerland 12by 52 minox, I had the 42mm but find the 52mm gives more light I will probably sell my 12x and get a pair of 10x as the 12s are hard to hold.
they are some fine bino's as close to the big boys Leica, Swaro, Zeiss at half tyhe price.

I don't have either of those models, but like my 6.5x32 IF set a lot, and found Cameraland great to deal with, so if I thought I needed a 10x42, I'd think those are a good deal.

I've been using the BL 8x42 BR for a little over a year...

The optics are crisp, bright and the colour pretty much neutral. I like the fact that they don't weight much (so I carry them more often). They have a generous eye relief, which is nice if you have to wear glass. Field of view is ok.

Things that could be improved... There are a little distorsion on the edge (was expected from a bino in this price range) and I wish they came in 6x.

Would I buy them again... Certainly! I think they represent a pretty good value for the money. In fact, I got a pair of 8x32 for the GF :D

Whom ever was suppose to have gotten her mustn't have been happy with the trade... Because I never noticed her been away... and I got to keep the bino's.

Seriously, who would want a GF that shoots (with her own firearms), can ride her motorbike off-roads, like to camp and hike... never mind the fact that she can run a pretty darn good 10K (and kick my but)

;)

I was looking Between these 3:

Nikon Monarch ATB 8x42 @ 259.99$
Minox BL 8X42 BR @ 289.99$
Vortex Diamondbacks 8x42 @ 219.99$

Had a talk with Doug from Cameraland and he convinced me to have a look at the Pentax 8x43 DCF SP on sale for $299.99, which is normally $649.00. These binos are far superior to the three listed above. I ordered a pair today.

I was looking for those on his site, but it says $349...

Has she got a sister who can only run 6K?

That sounds like a sweet deal.

Sweet deal indeed... add 27$ shipping, and whatever taxes/brokerage fee's I'll have to pay when the postman shows up at my door.

Should be a step up from what I'm use to using, my cheap 10$ bushmasters from cambodian tire are going in the trash.

Minox at low temp

Hi
I just noticed the minox bino's are only rated down to -10 deg celcius.
I regularly hunt at temperatures down to -35. Does anybody know what the rating means? Will the low temperature break the gas seal?

Quick calculation puts it at ~$430 to your door. $27 shipping, 13% at the border, and the exchange rate at $0.86 today. If you use Visa, they'll get you at $0.80...

Still a good buy though...
