Minox vs Zeiss

Anybody have any experience with Minox and Zeiss scopes that could draw a comparison among them? Both scopes have good reviews.
 
depends on what model of Zeiss you are looking at. From my limited experience with Minox scopes compared to the Zeiss Conquest line, I'd have to say they are pretty similar in optical quality. To my eye, the Minox has better eye relief and more forgiving eye positioning.
 
I have a Minox spotting scope and Zeiss rifle scopes.

I do get a cleaner more crisp image through the Zeiss glass without question, but this isn't an equal comparison.

However the I can make out a better image on the rifle scope at high power 14x than the spotter at low power 20x.

Just my observations.
 
Its not so much the optics but the durability that I'm interested in. My Minox ZA5 3-15X50 came apart while sighting it in. The objective lens came loose in the housing after 5 shots.
Waiting to see how this gets handled, I'm not ready to write it off as an inferior product but it sure made me question my choice.
 
Minox had a great reputation with their older miniature cameras.

As far as the current scopes go - the glass is excellent, but build quality is not as consistent as Zeiss.

Warranty wise - Zeiss has a lifetime transferrable warranty, which helps them hold their value.
 
Well right now with no contact and no verification of what is going om I think i am going to go with Zeiss from here on out.
 
I had a Minox, which had good optics, but after 50 rounds of 6.5x55 a chip came off of an internal lense, so I replaced it with a Swarovski. Needless to say I was unimpressed, espessially considering how much I love my Minox HG binoculars (although the HG binos cost much more than minox scopes do). In contrast I have had no problems with my Zeiss conquest, which is on a 375 H&H.

I'll stick with Zeiss for scopes, but love Minox for Binos.

Oh crap, I hope you just had a lemon, I just bought the same scope a little over a month ago for my 300 win mag, I've shot about 60 - 70 rounds so far with it mounted and no problem yet (fingers crossed) and I hope it stays that way. I have to say I like it especially the 4" eye relief

This comment makes me feel allot better about my Minox, it makes me nervous about a product I have when I hear even one bad review especially when it's new and there's not much info out there about it yet from other owners, even though I have read about the product it's always better to get it from people that have owned and used the product.

I do have to say, although I haven't used my scope very much yet, I am very pleased with it so far.
 
I bought one back a ZA5 2-10x40 october, I have not used it much. I will say that the glass is nice and clear, and the eye relief is great. So far I am very pleased with mine.
 
Well I now have the replacement scope so going to mount it and see how this one stands up. I will post updates after I get to use it some on the range here through the winter.
 
Well mounting the new scope was a waste of time entire eye piece section is loose and wobbles approximately an 8th of an inch left to right and up and down. no way it will hold its zero so not going to waste my time with it, it's on it's way back before the weekend. friend of mine will be posting a video of the scope with a dial gauge showing the amount of movement. needless to say I'm not exactly happy with this product.

And what scope was this?
 
Minoz ZA5 4-20X50 which was sent as a replacement for the Minox ZA5 3-15X50 which blew out its objective lens at the range after 5 shots. Two lemons in a row?
 
Its a pity because they are known for there bino's and spotting scopes as well as their camera's, I guess they need to work the kinks out. The optics are great but their durability of the scopes needs some work.
 
Only saw 2 Minox at the range this year and both had warranty work made on them, people buying it over a Zeiss is hard to understand... JP.
