Minox vs Zeiss

There was a thread about the loose eye piece section on opticstalk.com.

Apparently this was an issue with early production models and they apparently have it sorted out now.

I've had both Minox and Zeiss. The Minox isn't a bad scope for the money but doesn't compare with the Zeiss Conquest for quality and value for the dollar. I never had any issues with the scope but never kept it very long either.

I am a dealer for both brands and have sold many Minox and Conquest scopes. I would have to say that Minox performance (brightness, clarity...) approaches that of Conquest, however the fit, finish, and durability of the Conquest line is superior to the current generation of Minox rifle scopes.

Fortunately, the Canadian distributor for Minox stands firmly behind their product and offers quick resolution to any warrantiable issue.

I can confirm what PlainSight says about product support for the Minox scopes being good. I would like to add that PlainSight as a dealer also has excellent customer service. As I said in a previous post I had a Z5 1.5-8 which had an issue, I bought it from PlainSight and was impressed with their helpfulness when I had a problem. Now the Minox is gone and I bought a Swarovski Z4i from PlainSight to replace it.

I also agree that the Conquest is more robust and has better fit and finish. I have one on my .375H&H and love it. The Conquest is worth the extra money over the Mnox in my opinion. I am hopeful that Minox will adress the issues with their scopes, as they are new to the rifle scope buisness and typically produce well built optics.

minox za3

I have a minox ZA3 3x9, and have used it two seasons. It sits on a 30-06 and last season I was 2for2 on bucks. I like the scope and do not have any complaints. The eye relief is very foregiving, crisp image, holds sight. No bad experiences here and would buy another.

Plainsight is definitely the guy to talk to about optics on CGN. He will provide you with enough information to choose the right optic for you. I bought 3 S&Bs from him and I will go find him again for a new spotting scope.

As a photographer, I have had both types of glass. From a strictly optics perspective I am equally pleased with both brands. I am now looking at purchasing a Minox scope and find this thread useful. Thanks.

The question I have is; What is the turn around time from complaint to resolution and will Minox refund on its product if it doesn't stand up to the punishment of the recoil?? I would hate to be out a hunting season or competition because of an equipment related issue.
