Anyone have any experience with Minox scopes? In particular the ZA5 series riflescope. The various reviews I have read on them are all very positive but as we all know outdoor writers are encouraged to help sell tested products! Am looking for a new scope for my Ruger #1V 22.250.

I have one on my. 300 wm. The za5 3-15x. Dialed in and stays, picks up lots of light, not sure how it tracks, my turrets are mushy on the first click.

Minox's optical quality is quite good for the price, but one member here reported a scope that quickly went wrong with what appeared to be a manufacturing defect, and although he got pretty good turnaround on a replacement under warranty, the replacement had the same defect, and the replacement for the replacement had the same defect ...

I have Minox binoculars and a spotting scope that are made in Germany and like them very much. Not sure I'll try their riflescopes, which I hear are assembled in the U.S., but that is partly because I tend to use lower and fixed magnification and just don't feel the need to spend that much.

First Impressions is that they are very good glass. However....my ZA5 was one of the early defect runs and currently awaits in their repair shop for 4-6 week turnaround. At the very least look for the occular assembly to become loose after a session at the range. I am assured this is a problem now rectified with a new line scheduled for the fall. So I would wait for new fall lines or versions assembled in Germany (ZA5i) if your cash is not burning holes in your pocket.
My 2c.

They seem like high value and I was seriously thinking about getting one but after reading that thread about that one guys adventures I decided to save up from something else. Too bad, seemed like it was going to fill a niche.

I never owned Minox riflescope but years ago I was after good set of binos and after much hype I bought Steiner "military" porro prism binos first, then Minox roof prism ones and they were both slightly dim and dull. Enter my new 7x35 Nikon Action Extreme and for way, way less than half the price they will blow the door out the other two.
Lesson? Don't rely on advertisement and somebody's else advice, make your own discovery, compare items side by side and decide on your own what is the best value for your hard earned dollar....GR8 $.02 worth.

I had a ZA5 3?-10 I thought the glass was nice and bright, just as clear as my vx3. I didnt like the cheap plasticy feel of the clicks when adjusting the turrets but they didnt give me any problems. If i remember right my zeiss conquest feels like that a bit too? I really wish I held onto my minox and put it through its paces a bit more but it got sacrificed to fund another project. I would get another one without hesitation.

I have a Minox ZA5: bought it because it was a good price for excellent optics in a German reticle on a gun used in every condition and area Alberta can offer. Other German reticle scopes were a heck of a lot more money and I didn't want to spend that kind of cash.

I have never had a problem with it after a little over two years.
