About 50 bucks when they first showed up. :(

Grizz

I understand the sad face. You missed out back then, but are we all missing out now on a good deal? Or is it just a passing fad?
The Polish M44 with the blonde beech stock seems really good, the bluing on it makes me drool. Is the current price too high?

I've had 2. Really nice well finished rifles. One of mine has had a couple hundred cast loads fired. The second was unfired? and I sold it to a friend (of Polish decent) for 400 bucks last year. I would have asked 500 for that rifle on the open market. He got a good deal and doesn't plan on shooting it. I felt good the rifle went to a good home where it is much appreciated. My thought is that they will continue to appreciate in value in the future especially the unfired ones. How many other unfired (maybe tested fired fire at arsenal??) 50's era military rifles are out there.

I can't see paying more for one of these in unissued, unfired condition, versus a well preserved WW2 Russian version (which can be had for $400).

It's like the tool in the EE asking $2000 for a mismatched Longbranch No4Mk1.... pure lunacy. It's crazy to ask it, but even worse to pay it!

$500-$700

This price range is correct.. it all depends on how bad you want it, or how patient you would like to be.

Look at the M1 Garand… I wouldn't pay what they are selling for, thus I do not own one.

Paid $475 + shipping for this about a year ago.

Do not regret it in the least.

Don't like the price?
Don't have the cash?
Move on.

How many brand new milsurp rifles from the fifties are there on the market?
In a few years, who knows maybe next year already, you can start another thread: should have bought that new Polish M44 when it was available.

Before I forget:

Friend of mine had one five years ago or so. It had a very smooth bolt and was in mint condition and I was really impressed by it, but they're not 700 dollars good. I have an M38 that's pretty clunky and I'm happy with that if it'll cost me 700 bucks to trade up to something that, while better, is still just a Mosin. Ratty M44's are almost 500 dollars these days, too. It's pretty crazy what the Mosin Carbines are going for - I'm happy I got my M38 for 299 from Tradeex in 2013. I think that's a fair price.

What is the asking price for the one that's available? Since you are asking there must be something that caught your eye, right?

The one that makes me drool is being offered for $700 and there is a slightly less good looking one for $500, then I think there may be
one or two normal Russians for $375, all of these are spread out over the EE.
