I sent off the girlies application off, Registered mail. But it Canada post says its out for delivery since the 22nd. What should I do?

I sent mine in xpressPost. They got it, I can see on Canada Post website who signed for it and the date they got it. It doesn't show up online on Cfc website but I phoned and they said that the 28 day waiting period has begun and it sometime takes a couple weeks to show up in the system. They also told me that everything is date stamped when it comes in to them and not to worry. The Canada Post website is slow and they dont update it often, but 5 days is a little much to be out for delivery. I would phone Canada post, CFC won't be able to help you, they couldn't even help me and I knew who and when it was signed for.

i don't think theres such a thing as "not taking" registered mail. Especially from canada post to the government (which is government to government, theorically). it woud defeat the purpose of having a registered mail system in the first place...

Anyone is allowed to "refused" registered mail. But Canada Post records the details when it was refused. So essentially even a refusal is proof the registered mail was delivered.

Doesn't really help you, but makes for an easy complaint and would hopefully speed things up if you escalated the complaint (Ie. 28 day wait would probably start from the day they refused the mail).

Canada Post is usually pretty slow to update their site.

Have you checked her app status online:

Mine took almost 3 weeks to show up on the website after they signed for it. It's government effiicency at work. BTW, they don't start the clock until they process it and enter it on the website, so the days or weeks it sits in a pile on somebody's desk prior to processing doesn't count or show up in their statistics of waiting times.

They stamp the envelopes as they come in. When they appear on the website it will show the date it was recieved - not the date it was added to the website. No worries.

That is not what happened to mine. day 1 started the day it appeared on the website, which was 20 days after it was signed for. I'm not just expressing an opinion, I'm telling you what actually happened to me. Hopefully the OP gets a better deal, but it's not always how it works.

send it with PRIORITY mail, and ask for a signature. Mine was on the CFC website same day post canada confirmed the delivery.

That sucks - mine arrived and was signed for on the Thursday. The following Wednesday it was put online dated the day it arrived....

This is also what I was told when I called to ask (she wouldn't go check if it had arrived - but told me they are all stamped when they arrive so not to worry).

I sent mine in registered mail on a Thursday and they received it Monday morning according to Canada post. I called and inquired about my application 3 days after they received it and then it showed up on the CFC website the next business day.
