Miroku Shotgun

I have a Miroku over and under shotgun that I bought sometime ago for skeet shooting. The shotgun comes with 2 barrels one full over modified 30" and a 28" barrel skeet over skeet. I have since taken an interest in sporting clays and want to have interchangable chokes for this new sport.

Has anyone had a shotgun fitted for replaceable chokes by briley, and if so what was your experience with the quality of the work.

Second if I decided to sell the shotgun and replace it what would a Miroku in great shape be worth?

Briley's own work is top notch.

Some of those who install Briley's products ... less so.

Miroku prices are usually derived by comparison to similar grade/feature/condition Charles Daly's of the same era.
 
In 2002 I had Briley thinwall chokes installed by Lawry Sports in Caledonia, Ontario, the Canadian Briley agent. The quality of the work was fine. The run around I got from Lawry's was such that when I ordered another gun I had Teague chokes installed in the U.K. before it was shipped. Maybe things have changed over the years but I was very unhappy with Lawry's.

If I were getting chokes done today for a gun in Canada I'd probably go to Steve Milton at Precision Arms in King, Ontario. Copy and paste this link.

A fixed choke, two-barrel set, Miroku would probably fetch beween $1,500 and $2,000 depending on condition.

On a final note have you considered adjusting the chokes in your gun to make it more suitable for sporting? Were this my gun I wouldn't install choke tubes but would open up the F/M barrel to modified/modified and bring both barrels with me on a round. I'd use the sk/sk barrel for short targets and pop on the tighter barrels for longer presentations.

Is it available in 16 bore?

However, I would opt for a Imp. Cyl & Lt. Mod. choke combination
when opening-up the tighter barrels. So seldom find modified or tighter to be neccessary for Sporting.

As far as I can determine the Miroku-made Daly's ... N/A in 16 ga.

I wouldn't go as open as IC when you already have skeet constrictions available. While I too seldom find a need for modified I'd rather be slightly on the tighter side for a fixed choke gun. Lt. Mod./Lt. Mod would also be a good choice. I generally shoot those constrictions all the time and with some of the new stations at Galt we need those tighter constrictions. Skeet in the woods is no more.:D

No they don't. If they did it would probably be on a 12 gauge frame.:eek:

What you need isn't a Miroku. You need a 16 gauge Darne.:p

(Note to whntr, ignore this 16 gauge business. Win/64 and I occasionally yank each other's chain on the 16 gauge and neither of us takes it too seriously.)

Glad Galt has gotten away from Skeet in the Woods.

That's not what Sporting was supposed to emulate anyway,
but on the other hand, some Clubs are stretching things a
little too far at the opposite end of the spectrum.
70 yard + crossers .... what's the point ???

I don't worry about the long targets. More lead, more pellets, hope for the best. What confounds me are those short presentations concocted by evil and inspired target setters that look easy. I found one in Florida that blew my mind until I figured out what the trick was. I don't mind missing a long one but dropping a bunch of short ones that I haven't figured out is really frustrating.

But it's what keeps me going back for more.
