I recently got a Henry .22 lever and had a misfire within the several hundred rounds. I noticed that there is slightly less of an indent on the casing than on fired rounds. I read in the manual that if this happens the gun should be taken to gunsmith. I also have a Ruger 10/22 that has had a few thousand rounds through it and most of the misfires with that one (not that many, a few per brick) are the same. Is this anything to worry about?

If its only a few per brick I'd say your in the clear, I usually get 1 or two missfires every ~250 round of cheap bulk ammo

I start getting soft primer strikes when my rifle starts getting dirty. Usually around the 200-250 mark is when it starts happening, I just run a bore snake through it and pick out the bolt face and its good to go. Once I get home I still completely clean the rifle.

I can remember having one misfire in the last 5000 rounds or so, and when I turned the cartridge and tried it again, it fired. That being said, I do not shoot much cheap bulk ammo, so that may be a factor. Eagleye.

Thanks for the reassurance. I was more concerned about how the fireing pin was making less of an indent on the rim of the cartridge, and if having that happen every few hundred rounds is normal, or if misfires (however rare) should have as much of an indent as fired rounds. BTW, I usually shoot the cheapest bulk ammo I can find.
