at the range on the weekend my sks would misfire 1 in about every 15 shots, the primer was hit, tried putting misfired ammo into my cz858 and it fired every time, so I compared a fired case from the sks and a misfired, misfired just did not hit deep enough, has any body else have a simular problem, its surplus ammo

Remove the bolt and strip the firing pin. Look to see if there is too much grease packed in there. After soaking out all excess, give it a very light skim coat with new grease.

Another thought (and I might be confusing my SKS models) look to see if there is a return spring on the firing pin. If yes, nip off one turn to increase the travel.

Sounds like the firing pin was put in upside down...if so then your lucky as most times this would mean a slam fire.

But then again as others have mentioned it could simply be dirty.
