hi i bought a rc98k. I was so caught up in the code and bore condition that i overlooked the bolt wasn't ep to the rifle.its a 45 dou with a mint bore peened markings and a stock that looks like its been there.how can i check. Is it possible to check The headspace myself without gauges?possibly with plasti gauge and a cartridge? Thanks for any and all input

I've never seen a nazi mauser where a bolt swap resulted in a field gauge failure. Chances are someone swapped a straight bolt handle for a bent one or vice-versa as people tend to do (unwise to turn an RC into something it's not IMHO, but that's another story).

Well if it bothers you, take it up with the dealer, but I'm sure it will shoot safely. Just try it out and check the fired brass for overpressure signs. The K98k is inherently a safe design that handles gas well, if it were ME shooting that rifle, I would not be concerned. As a disclaimer: your mileage may vary so pls don't construe this advice as the definitive expert response ;)

Gotta cover my butt in our litigious world...
