Mismatched serial numbers

I am considering a S&W antique cartridge revolver. After some pressing, the seller finally admits that the cylinder does not match. I know this affects the value, but by how much? It appears to be in quite good condition otherwise.
Any good sources of information on this or opinions?
It's currently priced in the 4k range.
 
Well apparently someone less aware has purchased it. I had to ask twice if numbers matched. As some of you say, if a seller is shifty enough to try to hide that info, it's hard to trust anything else he says. It might be a decent "shooter" grade, but he was advertising it as a rare collectable with a firm price. Dodged a bullet so to speak...on this one.

Consider that these pistol are all that people can
buy
They all used to be $150.00 until they didn't
have to be registered
 
Opinion;

Sadly, given the current situation with restricted and prohibited handguns, I suspect that antique handgun prices will rise even more. Though the mismatched cylinder definitely affects value, and the seller's integrity has been brought into question now, the fact of the matter is that both points are almost inconsequential when compared to the fact that it is still a legal and functional handgun, which is now far-and-away its biggest selling point.
