Somehow my f**king recoil pad screws for my Savage 12FV synthetic are missing off my work bench!
(I suspect the f**king cat but can't prove it )

I don't want to use just any screw as it will tear out the threads in the plastic of the stock. The threads on the screw are wide spaced ...almost like a drywall screw.
I gave up being stuck on hold with Savage after 10 min (long f**king distance) I already spent more on being on hold than the damn screws are worth!

My question is...
Did Savage use the SAME screw for both the synthetic as well as wood stock? And have they EVER changed the thread pitch? I can get a couple of screws from Western gun parts. BUT....its a synthetic stock and if I ##### the threads in the plastic, I'm hooped.
Either that or just burn money on the phone with Eastern USA

Just grab some robertson wood screws and have at 'er. If the plastic threads strip out (I can't see why they would, but I'll humour the situation), just fill the screw holes with epoxy, drill them out to the robertson screw shank depth/width, and thread in the new screws.

No need to be hooped :D

F*** it.....Did as suggested. #8 X 2" Robertsons.....if they're a tad too long, "snip" with the dremel.
I tried these screws, and actually the threads seems to mesh fairly easily in the stock.

Rick I still cant figure out why you took the recoil pad off but if you are happy with it now and dont want it to come loose and are worried about the screws. Got any bedding or devcon epoxy?? Simply coat the screws ,the back of the stock and put a few drops down the screw holes, screw it together and after it sets its not coming apart...oh ya if you do this lightly sand the front plastic on the recoil pad first/ back of the stock so the glue has something to bite to.
