Now when i fist saw one of these things in Vegas, I was not impressed. Maybe it was the setting, maybe it was the lights, but it just looked hokey, and fake to me.

Fast forward to this November, when one of the guys brought one to deer camp.
Not really usable on a crown land deer hunt (gun) in Ontario, in fact chances of it getting shot are probably high. But we did have fun putting in guys beds when they were away, joking about blow up dolls and such.

Thing is, it does look real, or real enough.
So I went out and bought one for myself. Took it out last weekend.

Now I didn't score, but just for fun I left it out overnight. Tracks in the morning indicated that it had been checked over by at least two deer.

In the end I got rained, and winded out. Pouring rain and wind don't make for a nice hunt. I packed it in early, soaked to the hide.
I'll be using it again.

Changes I'd like to see include:
The current hair colour is more of a cross between summer and winter coats.
I'd like to see the winter coat on the models destined for Canada. Current version is too light.

Size, they are fawn sized, at least for an Ontario whitetail it needs to be larger.

Head position, It should have the head tipped down a bit more than it is.

They make great decoys during the rut... and great decoys for yotes when predator hunting using fawn distress call.... I saw one fo rsale on the EE if anyone wants to try one on the cheap...

I got her as well. I've taken her out once so far. I had a big buck come out 200 yards away and started heading across the bean field. He looked up and seen Miss November and he started to walk my way. It took him at least 5 minutes to get to 80 yards but then he lost interest and carried on across the field. He was waiting for it to move i think, If I had a gun he would of been dead, standing broadside for so long, but i had my bow and he wouldn't come 40 yards closer. I almost cried when he took off, gun season opened the next day LOL

Just wondering what sort of scent would compliment this decoy?
Eye'm not meaning Old Spice there Doc.....

I saw one at Crappy Tire this year. It looked like a mix between a cartoon deer and a real deer. I have a Renzo decoy, and have had deer feed right beside it, and had one that kept licking the decoys neck. Pretty good for a two dimensional decoy.

The tail of the decoy is two strips of fabric that can be soaked in doe in heat, or, for those of us in Ontario, Synthetic doe in heat.

One other issue the decoy has, that I assume will go away after a bit, is that it smells like a vinyl factory.
A spritz with the doe in heat seemed to cover it though.

I wish I'd had the camera at camp when we drove into the yard as one of the guys was soaking the tail in doe in heat.
I yelled "hey you! what're you doing to that deer!"

How well does the synthetic doe scent work? I tried some years ago when it was first out and I swear it smelled like perfume so I chucked it.

The bottle I have smells like urine, but it doesn't smell anything like the real doe in heat stuff. Smells more like human urine.
Then again, the real doe in heat stuff is concentrated for maximum effect.

sorry for a bit of a hijack:redface:(no im not):p..
any ways i know here you cant buy or sell the real deal doe heat in urine.....
BUT....
can we collect our own from a harvested deer for our own personal use???
