interested in a membership at this club, would love it if a CGN member with a membership there could take me for a few hours as a guest so I can have a look-see!

Also, if anyone has had good-bad experiences there, please share.

Thanks, Mark

A look-see should be free. Just contact the caretaker or R.O. on site. If you want to shoot, well you will need to join first or a guest of a member. I wonder if they still have that one round rule .

I left this year because of one round rule.:p

Nice people mixed with dangerous redneck idiots. Day to day it changes. No safety at all on the pistol range (poor muzzle control, no ro's, plates of steel set @ 90 degrees 25 meters away, I could go on) rifle range all one shot rule, black rifles get you "the look" and comments like ; "You hunt with that? Can't shoot or sumpthin'?" My favorite moment: I'm shooting my ar, when this old german guy says : "Vat you want vif dat? You hunt deer, I don't think so!" I replied that I target shoot with it, not hunting. He says: "Why do that?" Beside him this old british guy comes to my defence saying: "I don't blame him, I haven't killed anything since the war and hope to not have to." The look in the german guys eyes was priceless.

Come on out to Abbotsford. No silly one round rule. Black rifle and pistol friendly. Use whatever as a target, except glass and clean up after yourself!

TMSA is another option, they're in Pitt Meadows. I found their membership dues extremely high, but not sure what they are... haven't lived down there for 4 years.

One round at a time. in the gun. magazine. period. yes, seriously. (rifle range)

Depending on how you are shooting. If you are an SKS jackass spraying the range with uncontrolled lead and hot brass I will kick you out. If you are shooting in a slow controlled maner with the rounds impacting the berms and have a good working/safety knowledge of the firearm I have no problem with you shooting with more than one round in the mag. And if you are wondering I am the RSO for the Mission Rifle Range.

I do agree that there are times that I shake my head. Just the other day some guy showed up with another buddy and his wife and they just started blasting away. After getting swept with the muzzle for the second time I asked him nicely to slow down with the shooting and load one round at a time...after protesting I asked him when he got the rifle, a week ago

I've been a member at Mission for the past 9 years and not all RSO's are as enlightened as you. I shoot slow timed fire out of my M-14 and for the most part people are pretty good about it when I talk to them before I start shooting (on weekdays) at the far end of the range with magazines topped up. On weekends I gave up going because it's too crowded and I had a few bad experiences with some of the older members, RSO's, and former members of the executive. It's difficult to feed a semi-auto one round at a time by hand.

Mission has the potential to be a great range but it is controlled by a select few that think the world revolves around hunting rifles and single shot precision rifles.

+1, awesome range, ridiculous rule, no renew from me or anyone I know.

I've been a member at Mission for nearly 20 yrs.
The 300 yd rifle range is awesome to say the least.
As far as the one-shot rule is concerned all it took for me was a couple showers of hot brass courtesy of an inconsiderate moron to make me decide.

I have yet to have someone give me a talking to or yell at me for shooting my M14, Garand or 10/22. Of course I grab the outer benches so the brass doesn't piss the guys off and I make sure all the shots count. Don't get me wrong I love shooting in the bush as well but if you want to act like a hooligan Mission ain't the place for you. There are guys that are champion shooters, master reloaders and wicked gunsmiths that come there to shoot. Most of my time is spent chatting with these guys or helping out newbies who have no clue how to sight in a rifle or properly load a semi  My approach is not to yell but to let them know that what they are doing is incorrect and I'd be glad to show them the proper way. As for the comment that "the range but it is controlled by a select few that think the world revolves around hunting rifles and single shot precision rifles" that isn't true either. I've been trying to be as active as I can to help promote safe semi shooting and letting the guys know who I am. All these guys that complain I have yet to see one of them that have come out to range cleanup or the monthly meeting. Unless you're heard you don't exist.

Bottom line - Mission is a great range just act responsible!
- cleanup your brass and used targets
- put stuff back where you got it
- DON'T SHOOT THE TARGET STANDS!!!!!
- and cleanup your area when done

I've been a member of mission for 18 years now. The pistol range is great but the rifle range is nothing short of frustrating if you plan on shooting a semi auto. I used to recommended the Mission range to all of my friends that shoot. I've managed to sign up about 15 or so people. Only 3 of them have remained as members.

The rest have quit due to the single shot rule and very negative encounters with a retired guy with the initials "MM". Every year I have to convince myself to pay my dues and continue my membership because I'm so frustrated with the backwards clowns that persist with the single shot rule. The rule needs to be amended to be "all rounds must impact on a berm".

Don't bother joining mission unless you are a pistol shooter and plan on using the pistol range or want to shoot a hunting rifle on the rifle range
