Mission Rod and Gun Club will be holding its second Speed Steel match on Saturday 17th May.
The match this month will be shot over five stages of various target configurations. Competitors will shoot each stage six times with their best five times for each stage going towards their aggregate time for the overall match. Each stage consists of a series of white plates and one black plate. Against the clock, competitors engage the white plates first and then the black stop plate. To avoid penalty points the white plates have to be hit before the black stop plate can be engaged. The distances to targets will vary from 10-50 yards, with sizes varying from 6” 8” 12” round and 18x24” rectangular steel plates.
Bring as many magazines or speed loaders as possible. If you are going to shoot this event we recommend you use the lightest loads you can muster as there is no power factor requirement. Remember this event is all about speed and accuracy. Note: NO magnums allowed. In terms of ammo requirements, the round count for the match is 150, but depending on your skill level you should budget to bring between 250 and 350 rounds per gun. As you can imagine hitting a 6" stop plate at 50 yards rapid fire can be challenging, so bring lots of ammo.
The match fee is $15, and is open to non members (there is no additional drop in fee for non members).
The match is open to 7 different classes to encourage as many people as possible to give it a try.
Mission Speed Steel classes include:
1. Stock 22 pistol/revolver
2. Open 22 pistol/revolver
3. Stock center fire pistol
4. Open center fire pistol
5. Stock revolver
6. Open revolver
7. Single action cowboy
Like last month we will be running a morning and afternoon squad so that we can get as many people through the 5 stages as possible.
Match start times: 1st squad - 9:00am, with a match briefing at 8:30am. 2nd squad - 1:00pm, with a match briefing at 12:30pm.
